Learn: How to Compress Images for the Web (Without Ruining Them)
Runs entirely in your browser — nothing you paste or open here is uploaded, logged, or stored. How we handle data →
Why this tool
Most quick resizers soften images or quietly stretch them. High-quality resampling plus a locked aspect ratio keeps results crisp and undistorted.
The output dimensions update on every keystroke — type a width, the height follows the locked ratio, and the badge shows exactly what you'll download.
The aspect lock keeps proportions tied to the source; unlock it only when you deliberately need a non-proportional resize.
The 'don't enlarge' toggle caps output at the original size — enlarging beyond it can't add detail, only blur, so the default protects you.
Stay in the source format or switch — PNG for graphics and transparency, JPG/WebP with a quality slider for photos headed to the web.

Image resizing looks trivial until the results come back blurry, stretched, or three times the expected file size. The failure modes are predictable: naive nearest-neighbor scaling, silently broken aspect ratios, and re-encoding at the wrong quality. This tool addresses each — bicubic-quality resampling, a ratio lock that's on until you decide otherwise, and explicit format and quality controls at export.
Because everything happens in your browser's canvas, there's no upload queue and no size cap beyond your machine's memory — a 50-megapixel photo resizes as readily as a screenshot. Combine with the Image Compressor afterwards when the goal is hitting a strict file-size budget.
Help
Everything you need to know about the Image Resizer.
Drop the image, type the target width or height (the other follows the locked aspect ratio), or use the % buttons and presets. Pick the output format and press Download — the file is resampled at high quality and saved with a -resized suffix.
Downscaling discards pixels by definition, but high-quality resampling keeps the result sharp — it's how every photo pipeline works. Upscaling is the lossy-looking direction: the tool can do it, but the 'don't enlarge' toggle is on by default because added pixels can't add detail.
Common targets: 1920×1080 for full-HD banners and YouTube thumbnails (1280×720 also works), 1080×1080 squares for Instagram, and 512×512 for avatars and app icons. The presets cover these; for responsive web images, exporting at 2× your CSS display size is a good rule.
